National Air Force Museum - Dayton Ohio [photos]

This was my first trip to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio and it sure won't be my last. It is an AMAZING place. The only thing that rivals it, that I've seen, is the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. We're lucky to only be about an hours drive from Dayton so we decided to go see the museum as kind of an end of summer field trip.

It's huge and we only really got to take a look at two of the four hangers. My boys were amazed and loved it but after the first ten minutes, I was slowing us down with my photo taking and reading all the history. I will definitely be making another trip out and if any FliteTest fans in the area or passing through want to make a group trip out it would be amazing. The museum is free and there is a really nice little food court and gift shop. I didn't grab the best camera but here are some of the highlights of what was in the two hangers we walked.

I had a day spare after Flite Fest before my flight back to UK and made the trip to this place. It was well worth the drive and I have a heap of photos of aircraft and artifacts I just wouldn't have dreamt of! I would recommend it to anyone. The fact that it is free entry (I did make a donation on entry though) and easy parking is a bonus.

I scheduled two days right after Flite Fest for Dayton.
Sadly I only got to Dayton late in the afternoon thanks to the RNC taking place in Cleveland.
(or maybe the traffic is that bad there every day, I wouldn't know...)
One day truly isn't enough to take in all of what is on offer there and I doubt two would have sufficed. still haven't sorted through all the thousands of pics I took there, but maybe I can post a few later in the week

Lol..the best thing to do is just live close. :p
Seriously though, If you are planning to visit NMUSAF, PLEASE plan 2 days! The fourth hanger that just opened has alot that you needed to kinda know about, to see. A lot of the Airforce One and research and develpment aircraft and exhibits were being kept in a large hanger that you had to schedule a bus to see. If you have been there before june of this year, you are now in need of another visit!

As a side note, Radical RC is right across the street.
