Quad transmitters and airplane transmitters.

In general, there is no difference. Both quads and airplanes use four main channels (roll, pitch, yaw, throttle), and have extra channels associated with switches/knobs for other features. The most popular transmitter now is the Frsky Taranis, either in x9d or qx7 form, which is a transmitter that both multirotor and airplane flyers enjoy. Now you may find a difference if you look at consumer quad transmitters or the TBS Tango. Those are transmitters than have built in screens for video viewing. There are also some like DJI controllers which have the throttle stick centered and not starting from the bottom. Those are for quads always flying in altitude hold based modes.
