I was looking at getting more into quads back in January and managed to pick up a Vortex 150 from Amazon for only 157$. The MSRP is 300$ so that is a great deal. The biggest complaint I've heard about it was the price and at half off it isn't much more then a gremlin. It looks like it went back up but is now down to 200$. Some price trackers show it has dropped to 157$ before and some don't. It looks like it doesn't last long. I held off for the high price so I thought it might be useful to others to take a look and potentially set an alert or something.
