hall sensor

Several times it was mentioned here about the use of a hall sensor as a replacement for the potentiometer.
I think it is good idea, but you need to consider that direct connection is not possible because at the output from the sensor you will not get 0-5V as in potentiometer circuit but something about 1-4.2V
In addition only small part of hall sensors has linear characteristics. The one of them is AH49E (if you need I found the best mechanical solution for sensor placement at: allegromicro )
Anyway, there is a smart software which can help you to use AH49E and have an output volatge level at 0-5V

Please remember about filtering of the power supply connected to Attiny. That's enough 2 capacitors (100nF/10V and 100uF/10V) plugged as near as posiible of Attiny.

Interesting projects - and I had mused on this myself.

I wonder if rudder pedals could be added for the full cockpit experience?

This is a question I've been very curious about. Being a long-time full scale pilot, including being a fighter pilot for 27 years, I always wonder about rudder control. It doesn't seem comfortable, at least to me, to operate the rudders with other than your feet. Very natural, not to mention important to any flight.

greetings! I am adding a comment here to say hello and subscribe to this thread!

I have been working on a similar project for some time using the APM 2.6 mega platform. As it is now end of life, I am looking to move to a nee platform. I'll look in into the links above!

cheers!

I am attempting to connect a USB Windbox to a FrSky Taranis or FrSky X-Lite radio in order to control an RC plane using a USB joystick. I request assistance from anyone who has experience connecting this device to an RC transmitter.

  • I have connected a joystick to the USB Windbox, which successfully detects axis movement and button presses.
  • I have constructed a Trainer cable with a two-pin JST connector on one end and a 3.5mm MONO jack on the other. The PPM signal is fed to the tip of the 3.5mm jack connector. Electrical measurements confirm that the cable is functional.
  • I have inserted the Trainer cable into the PPM connector on the Windbox (which is located next to the antenna output) and the 3.5mm jack into the Trainer connector on the RC transmitter.
  • On the RC transmitter, I have configured the Trainer mode as “Slave”.
  • In the USB Windbox settings, I have enabled the “Trainer ON” option and selected “Futaba PPM” and “8CH” in the Output mode menu. In the Button mapping menu, I have assigned the “Trainer ON” function to a joystick switch.
Despite these configurations, the movement of the joystick does not affect the FrSky RC transmitter, and pressing the joystick button with the “Trainer ON” function has no effect. The icon indicating active Trainer mode does not appear on the RC transmitter display. Can someone please advise me on where I may have gone wrong? I'm already pretty desperate :)
