Well my assumption was that planker refers to a large wing short fused plane. That looks like a flying plank. Typically used in slope flying.
Am I wrong?
I have a few of the great designs built. I am trying to keep them light, but is seems like I have to add a LOT of nose weight to the short fuse. While mathematically it works, Iy feels unnatural. I just want to know if that's how it is? And do you normally have to add 50g-60g to the nose in addition to the battery?

If I had used the recommended electronics I am sure it would have needed nose weight. The battery I used is probably 50 grams heavier than the recommended 450 mah battery so I think you would be spot on. This is why I opted for the larger battery and motor.

Just got back from the gym, well actually the bar, had a blast with the Fokker squadron. We flew 5 of the Fokkers and even had the Snoopy Dog House in the air!! I will try to get some video tomorrow. Went home with two less planes, Paul and Bud , hope you enjoy them !!

I haven't personally built many bi planes but I've seen quite a few others who have and most seem like they need a lot of nose weight.
Originally bi planes had pretty light airframes and relatively heavy engines thus they tend to have a very short nose. If you keep the traditional bi plane look that short nosed layout means you will need a lot of weight forward of the CG.

That's the great thing about electrics, when you need nose weight , go for bigger batteries and get more flight time!!

Yeah just go for the bigger battery, it makes for a really fun time!
It's usually how I address it too. just sometimes, I get concerned just HOW much weight is stuffed up there. Thanks

These planes only need about an ounce of nose weight , so going from a 450mah to a 650 mah battery worked perfect.

I actually tried a 650 mah 3 cell instead of the 2 cell and it was a blast!! Always better to have too much power than not enough. this is another reason that I opted for a larger motor rather than what was recommended.

Cool! Where did you find the Dog House kit/plan?

I actually kitted the Dog House in 2009. I was at Efest flying the depron eagles that I had designed and I believe his name was Tim Wright was flying the Dog House. It had no wheels and he was still fine tuning the design and offered it to me to kit. Had my bird ideas taken by an Asian company and just couldn't compete with their low ball prices. Here is another Dog House that I just finished painting with Charlie Brown as the pilot. Maybe I can find time to start a thread on the Dog House with some dimensions and a build thread. The Dog House is very simple to build and flies well, even in a small gym.

That should be interesting to fly. Looks like you made a 3Dr1.
Make the struts a little wider if it has trouble doing a knife edge.

Really not looking for 3d, just want it to roll nice and maybe do a decent knife edge. I didn't think about making the struts wider, that would definitely help.
