Started a build a week ago. Coming along. I’m usually a balsa builder but wanted to see how this Gee bee model Z would pan out with a foam board build. Have most of the wings done and started on the fuselage. Wings are a 72” span.

Fantastic - I've been thinking of using bbq skewers for stringers so I'll be curious to see how this turns out.

Stringers complete!

with the use of bbq stringers, you can go down on thickness of foamboard, that will stiffen the build anyway.

I took all of that in to consideration when changing the design. I have also run a few balsa pieces through the fuselage box because I am making this a 30cc has powered plane. I want it to scream down the runway like the original air racer.

a nice hybrid approach with the FB and skewers - your wing has got me thinking about another project I have on the back burner.

Sure that would totally work with the mother that I used for stiffness in the wing. If you want any further explanation on what I did let me know and I’d be happy to lend som insight. Is that supposed to be a high speed glider, or are you making it a powered model?

Wing halves joined and access hatch for top roughly created. Now to start fiberglassing.

@Asaxykindofguy - love to know more about your wing structure - my wing will be a sloper and possibly in FB could be a light wing option!

FYI - I have a Super GeeBee in my Simulator and it is a little rocket! :)

Which simulator do you use? Are you a real flight guy or do you use something else? I have had real flight since it’s first release and was thinking about giving ClearView a try.

I love the balsa x foamboard mashup approach here. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

What are you using to cover/skin the plane?
