Just found this super interesting page on few planes that took off as biplanes and ejected the top wing for dog fights. There are a few models talked about in the article but the main one that Is interesting is a hurricane. It's a good read

An interesting article but the Hillson Hurricane never actually slipped its wing in flight. The slip wing was not proceeded with as the advent of variable pitch propellers coupled with the immense war time airfield building programme ensured long paved runways were available.
During the war years 444 paved runway airfields were constructed. At its peak creating a new serviceable airfield with full infrastructure every 3 days!
