Just wanted to thank you for the great version 2 plans of this plane. I ordered a couple of 50mm EDFs a few weeks back without having a plan as to what exactly I was going to do with them and then I came across your plans and liked what I saw and downloaded them. I built one (attached pictures) with a yellow and black vinyl scheme. As I was building it I kept thinking that by forming some of the foam I could get rid of some of the hard lines and round things out a bit. So I started to build another using some of the master build techniques and came out with a pretty nice result(attached pictures). I'll be modifying the canopy a bit for the second one and doing the wing tips differently(will post pics when completed. Once again thanks for the great plans, everything you see on the second build is your build plans , I really like the result and can't wait to wrap these two planes up and fly them to compare against each other. Great work on the plans, you really put a lot of thought into it!

I used the original plans , just rounded the edges of the seams on the nose and intake pieces so that they would fit smoothly together.Basically smoothed out the lines that Griff has. removed paper from the back of the pieces and formed them to shape like they do in the master series builds. Fuselage needs to be shaped in 3 different places before you glue in the mount and doubler( the two front sides and the rear, sides don't need a lot of shaping, rear requires a little more work, I also did this with the wings and eliminated the score cut that gave the original wing its shape. I'll see if I have a few more pics to show . Let me know if I can help out in any other way

HOLY CRAP!!!! That smooth fuse is amazing!!! That’s so incredible!!
started wrapping it last night, I went with replacement wingtips that I saw online for the real plane , think they were called CElipse. There is an under camber under these tips and hoping that it will help with less drag l,little more lift and better stall tendencies. We'll see. Hope you like. And once again thank you!

Great work! If I may ask, what kind of vinyl are you using? I used sign vinyl on my last three planes, and it's thin and light, but it's also a bit difficult to work with because as soon as it touches it is STUCK! No second chances. I'd love to find something that is repositionable until firmly squeegied or heated a bit.

I mostly use a 2 mil air release vinyl, printed stuff is 3M IJ180 , solid stuff is 3M 1080 wrap film or I also use Briteline Wrapcast(this one is very positionable and cheaper). That said though I have used regular sign vinyl as well, takes a bit of practice for that, I work in a vinyl shop so I do that every day, but if you give me an idea of what you're looking to do I can help with some pointers, I always have a project(s) on the go so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to help out. I finished this one this weekend and maidened today , it's a Rasterize skin, thinking I might do another one and video it

Wow, that looks great! Here are pictures of my latest 3 projects. I'm using what was described as "Cast Fluorescent Vinyl" from an eBay store named Michigan Sign Supplies. It's definitely bright, and very thin (which is what I wanted) but man, once it touches it's hard to reposition it or get wrinkles / bubbles out.

Beautiful builds! Is that foamboard?

Thanks! Only the delta is foamboard, I did a thread on it here. The others are just "repaints" of foamy EDFs The more colorful one is an FMS 70mm Avanti and the other an Arrows Hobby 50mm Viper (with some custom 3D printed wingtips).

Hey Guys, there used to be a pusher version of older version of this L39.
Just wondering if the new version (2.1) has a pusher config option, or is it just EDF now?

I am wanting to make this into a 70mm EDF how would I go about that ? thanks
Sizing the plans up to 130% will make the EDF mount the right size for a 70mm and then you would have to adjust tab sizes etc but I don't see a whole lot of that would be needed. Question is how much does the overall weight change, and would your 70 mm and battery choice be suitable?

Hate to ask, but my printer shows no difference between the various fold types. I've printed twice and still have the same results. Can someone let me know how to figure out which fold goes with each piece?

Thanks.

are you printing with any ink / toner save turned on? and what about color?

I print a lot school work for the grandkids (homeschooling) and have grayscale and ink saver turned on and that can mess up some types / styles of printing.
