The process I used for painting this is: First paint the entire plane white (If its white foam board this is an optional step, it looks better if you do because it matches the rest of the plane) then you mask off the area that you want for your blue background for the stars and paint it blue after that has dried, you then cut out the stars (Keep them as you will need them later!) so that you have a cut out American flag star pattern you then can tape that to the blue area with blue painters tape for the stencil (For my Arrow I had to cut off the corner that was hanging over the edge and align that down the slanted leading edge of the wing.) You then put a coat of white paint over the the stencil after you apply the paint wait approx. 5 - 10 minutes and take off the stencil and you then stick the stars you cut out to the white stars that you just painted (there will be spatter dew to the fact that the paper won't hold its self down firmly to the airframe) and put an additional coat of blue over that and then let it set until you can touch it, you then can peel off the stars carefully (Using a razor to pick up the edge works great!) you then let it dry thoroughly. For the stripes you first want to mask off your star pattern and lay down strips of masking tape in the pattern that you want your stripes to be in, (Be sure that the edges of your tape is smoothed down firmly so that you get clean lines without feathering) apply your red paint and let it dry thoroughly, you then can remove all the masking!
