I just want to say thank you to everyone who posts here. So many of you share an incredible amount of knowledge, and it truly makes a difference.
About two years ago, after I lost my best friend — my dad — I found myself in a pretty dark place. He always loved RC stuff but never actually got around to flying. I ended up taking about a year and a half off work, and one day, out of pure boredom, I started watching YouTube. I came across one of Josh’s Flite Test build videos and was blown away by what he was building and flying.
That one video changed everything.
Since then, I’ve built somewhere between 22 and 24 Flite Test planes. I even built my own CNC laser cutter from scratch. My ceiling is packed with planes — some that haven’t even flown yet. What started as a distraction turned into something that’s helped me more than I ever expected.
My only regret is not finding this hobby before I lost my dad. He would have absolutely loved it. But in a way, I feel like every build, every cut, every plane hanging from my ceiling is something we’re sharing. This hobby has helped me through a lot of pain, and I truly believe he’s with me in some way when I’m out there building.
