Hi, i'm in the final stages of finishing my H copter (based of the flight test build) and i'm a bit nervous to uses the SF 11x4.7 Hobby King props that i got. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=22453
They just feel flimsy and are very unbalanced. Does anybody have recommendations on props that work well for their quad? I was thinking about one of these. http://store.3drobotics.com/products/apc-propeller-set-11x47-sfp-style or http://www.rctimer.com/product_703.html

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! :)

Slow-Fly are purposely flimsy for two reasons. First and foremost, they are very forgiving in a crash. There's a good chance they will flex and not break. Second, since they do flex, if you stick your fingers, arms, etc. into them while spinning, they give only a minor cut verses carbon fiber which will slice you deep and clean like a scalpel cutting baby skin. :black_eyed: :p :(

But they don't maintain their pitch well once they are pushed into higher RPMs and thus loose efficiency. They also are prone to vibration because they DO flex. And oh yea, they are dirt cheap. . . :applause:

I am running them on my H-quad and they work great as far as I can tell, I am after all a mutirotor noob. As previously stated they do survive a crash well, I have one now that has a bend mark on it that is still working good I dont plan on changing it untill it gets worse. Just my 2 cents worth.

OK thanks I'll stick with the HK props then :) The dirt cheap factor is nice. I'll try APCs if i have trouble with the HKs.

I've had vibration issues with video using them but I'm not entirely sure it's just the props. I balance mine before using them(yes it takes a lot of hot glue!)and they then seem to work fine as far as the FC boards are concerned. And you can't beat the price...

A way of telling if your cheap props are balanced is if you hover or fly at a smooth constant speed and your video is relatively jello free, then you put in a moderate pitch or roll or increase throttle and you see the jello, that is showing the flex induced vibration.

Those props from Hobby King are actually "Gemfans" and although they are poorly balanced (as are ALL props I have ever seen or purchased) the Gemfans are considered "better" by some users than props such as GWS and many other "cheap" props which can come apart at a glance. The cheap props serve a good purpose in that they are a low cost "learner" prop that is not as painful ($) to break or replace.
