150% FT Flyer

Hello All,

I've recently started building FT Planes, I've had little luck with the nutball, but managed good progress with the FT Flyer, I am wanting to scale it up 150% or perhaps more, the 1806/2280KV with a 6x4E works well, I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on a good motor/prop combination, or is it a matter of printing the plans, cutting it out, putting it together, and finding the weight and then working out?

I'm located in Australia, so my foamboard choice is limited, and I am working with heavier product that the original designs/supply from the US. But in saying that the 'Power Pack A' works well.

Thanks everyone in advance!

If you stick to the original design, just scaled up, without doubling any of the foam, then I think the weight of the airframe would be just be the scaling factor squared. So 1.5*1.5=2.25. So if you get a motor and ESC that is also about 2.25x the weight of an A pack, you’d end up with a pretty similar COG. The B pack comes on pretty close.

I scaled up a Bloody Wonder to 140%. I put a relatively small motor on it and it flies great. Very easy flier. Floaty and relaxed. I think your 150% Flier will do well. Using a denser foam will probably benefit it too, since the entire wing and tail are all single layer and tend to warp easily.

PS, make sure your upscale the 2022 Flyer that @alan0043 linked. It’s lighter to begin with and will probably upscale better.
