I shared my latest design in the "What did you design today" thread and managed to build it over the weekend. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! This marks my first full scratch build that I designed entirely in Onshape and brought to life—no guesswork or trial-and-error fitting like my previous builds. The flattened templates aligned well, though I still had to make a few minor tweaks.
Most of my time went into refining the landing gear assembly. It took three prototypes to get it functioning just right, and the breakthrough came when I found springs with the perfect length and pull weight. For a 1500mm foamie, it was surprisingly efficient on materials—just four sheets of DTFB. Each wing used one sheet, while the fuselage, horizontal stab, and vertical stab took up the other two.
I powered it with a Sunnysky 3120 780kv motor paired with a 60A ESC and 12x6.5 prop. Unfortunately, fall arrived in full force today with wind and rain, so the maiden flight is on hold. Fingers crossed for better weather later this week!
