hmm... after discussing with AI, I'm not sure what I got in mind would even break 100, unless I go with Kph. 🤔 Maybe not. I'm certainly not going to reach 150. 200 is right-out.

Unless I can talk some Air Force boys into yeeting it out the back of a transport and straight into the jet stream. Then 300 is on the table. 😁

FPV is okay, and we just won't tell the FAA about the altitude, right?🤔
The competition is as much about trying to achieve a personal best and having fun as it is trying to win - I knew from the beginning that the Super Duper Sabre wouldn't be able to compete with the foam board designs from last year much less the high-powered 3D printed designs prop powered designs being entered this year but it was still a fun time to build and fly it. You should go out and clock some speeds if you have the time - and you never know, it might surprise you.

Third place is still pretty wide open at 116 mph so someone needs to go grab it and I definitely want to see a foam board design in the top 3

I think I've changed my mind on breaking the competition in 2 parts, one for foam board and one for 3D printed designs, and I'd support doing that next year. With one 200+ mph run in the books and hopefully more to come before the competition ends it's pretty clear that 3D printed designs have a pretty substantial edge when it comes to aerodynamics and I feel like if we don't break things out and things continue to develop as they have, next year we'll be seeing 250+mph runs which I doubt foam board can achieve.

I'd be willing to host and potentially sponsor the prize for the 3D printed side of things so we don't drop all the responsibility on one person.

That sounds awesome! I would definitely try both next year!

That sounds awesome!! Or maybe I host one and @Mr Man hosts the other or something like that (After all MR SPEED...😂😂)

I missed, and he is still lurking. I blasted this whole place with Demon WP recently, he should be dead :cautious:

I was gonna say you should see how much the questionable battery (at 187mph) puffed up. I'm gonna have to retire those two soon...
Send it up again, taped to the outside of the airplane with some asbestos in between.

What could possibly go wrong? 😆

We NEVER go over
Technically, the ceiling at LEAF field (Longmont Electric Aircraft Flyers) is 1200' AGL, and ground altitude is ~5,100'. Pressure altitude of course varies, and could be as much as 8000' on a bad day. 😂 Welcome to flying in Colorado!
