Last time I was at Newport News was when I was assigned to the Nimitz in 1983. I arrived after midnight and walked down the pier looking for the ship in the dark. then I realized the dark WAS the ship suspended from the gantry cranes and up on blocks with no water under it at all.

Good luck with the Swap meet wish I could go but thats a tad too far to walk. I kinda miss the tidewater area had a lot of great times there.
