Hi guys!
There's not much for good flying sites in my immediate area. I'm in a bit of an RC dead zone. The thriving metropolis of Ponce de Leon FL sits smack dab in the middle of nowhere.
For RC flying, there's a good club... just under an hour from me. They are on Eglin Air Force Base and are severely limited in what's allowed there. No overnight activities, drones are sometimes prohibited, sometimes not, and of course you need an AMA membership to fly there.
There's a very small "not club" about 45 minutes east of me. Last time I visited the field had still not been repaired from it being used as the dumping and sorting grounds for hurricane debris. The ground was very uneven, and the grass was gone, replaced by clumps of weeds. I have heard it's better but I have yet to confirm.
West of me about 45 minutes is a club that was so unwelcoming that one visit was enough for me to never return. Shame too because a friend of mine does fly there, but we're not THAT good of friends.
And then there's 3D Farm.

Don't let the name fool you. It's not exclusive. The landowner is a big fan of FPV, wings, drones, and even large scale 3D planes. Not so much a fan of helicopters, but he has his reasons...
I met Rusty, the owner of 3D Farm, through a customer service ticket for a Flite Test product several years ago. I was invited up to an annual event called Huck-O-Ween, and have been a fan of the location and the people who fly there ever since.
The field is second only to the immaculate grass of Hodge's Field in Americus GA, home of SEFF. The runway is bordered by several acres of farm field. There's a pole barn for inclimate weather and there's restrooms and a shower. The only drawback for me is that it's 1.5 hours away. Which I overcome by leaving home on my "Friday, spending the night with some night flying on the field, then waking up, and getting in some early am flying. I then can drive home before the wind picks up and be around the house to spend time with the wife or knock out some honey-do items.
The point of all of this is that since Joe Nall had been cancelled this year, and people already had their vacation time in, he agreed to let us hold a small fly in at the Farm. Everything is free. No camping charges, no landing fees, come on over, check it out and get some flying in.
