I have noticed during printing that sometimes when an inner brace portion or tab starts sometimes it will angle or curve up slightly. Then after a couple passes the print head will hit into that. Adding a Z lift setting will fix that but it will add to the time.

I had that problem and traced it down to running the hot end at too high a temperature, especially when each layer was a smaller total distance traveled reducing the cool down time for the filament. There was a setting I tried in Cura of "minimum layer time" but it didn't seem to help, but reducing nozzle temp and slowing down the print speed did.

Okay. So we got done printing part F4 and it came out really floppy. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Or did we do something wrong? We had to lower the extrusion multiplier as the parts were coming in really heavy (8g over on one of the bigger ones). I have a 12 sec video of how wobbly the thing is (it's like jello), but no Youtube account to link it. I can e-mail it.

Someone showed me that I do have a Youtube channel and how to upload videos. Here is the link.

I would think that flex is ok, maybe even desirable. The stiffer it is, the more brittle it is. I think once you glue everything together it will stiffen the whole structure.

Andre,
Did you see the two posts: one asking if you adhesion problems other than what's in you videos (125 I think it was); and the video I posted above regarding the fuselage part? We are having adhesion problems, and that one part seems awful wobbly. Is that how your's came out?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry crazy week.

Thats my F4 piece. Feels fine. Same feel as the smaller Spitfire project.

Bed adhesion, I suggest a bigger skirt layer.

One of the things I discovered was because I had a closed cabinet the heat would build up too much and I'd actually buckle the layers down close to the bed.

So I've gone back to an open cabinet.

Landing gear.

I'll update the parts list shortly.

Thanks for info on the previous questions Andre. That one part just felt much less structurally sound. Guess we'll go with what we have and hope for the best. Thanks in advance for updating your parts list. I planned on printing the tires, but not so sure now. We've learned that the flexible PLA isn't so easy to print on CR-10 type printers because of the type of extruder. So it'll be nice to know the tire you chose as a back up.

Thanks again for all the info. You and your Youtube channel have been a big help!

Okay... So I found out yesterday from Hobby King that they won't ship that Zippy battery to me. I only found out because the battery is still listed as back ordered on my order status even though the batteries are not on back order. So I called and they said that "due to new airline rules" they can't ship it from their international warehouse. So unless I followed up with them, they never were going to let me know my order was being held up because they couldn't ship the battery, not because it was on back order. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with them. Especially since they now say I have to pay shipping, even though I got free shipping when I placed the order. But I digress:

They weren't totally clear on whether they can still ship batteries from their US warehouse, but I think they can ship ground and avoid the airlines. So in that light I was looking at batteries available in the US warehouse.

ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 6S1P 45C

or

ZIPPY Compact 5800mAh 6S 25C

The compact is actually lighter and, of course, has more capacity. But I was worried about the C rating. The Turnigy motor (the same one you got Andre) won't over draw the compact will it? If the battery has a continuous discharge of 145 amps, and the max load is 70 amps, the motor can't possibly over draw right? And the battery will provide plenty of power for a five or so minute flight don't you think? So much to learn in this hobby, especially when it comes to electric motors and batteries.

Thanks again.

Getting there.
I've been messing with the primary layer speeds as well the retraction settings.

I fully expect to do some minor sanding and filler work.

Looking good. We just finished the fuselage. Working on accessories now. Will glue it all next weekend maybe. Need to wait until it warms up a little as I can only paint outside.

Looks nice, now that I have a 3d printer I kinda want to get the 109.
I wonder how heavy they are and how well they fly, the recommended battery is 6s on the website but maybe it will work on 4s with a higher kv motor.
