Thanks. Turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

Make sure and follow the changes talked about in the thread. The hatch and formers are slightly too wide (just trim the sides down), and I added 2.25" more undercamber area to my wing.

Will do. I'm even going to give autocad a try. Your inspiring me to try my hand at designing to try and give back to this great community. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Great looking build, are the tiled plans in the first post your most current?

Yeah v.1 is still the latest. I was going to update them but got distracted with the floats.

That's great. The more people designing the better. It can be a bit of work some times but it's a lot of fun no matter what.

I'm up in the woods so I can't upload video, but I can get a couple pictures out.

It flies great with the floats. Had to re-trim, and it actually needs the rudder to make a clean turn but that just adds to the fun. It rolls, loops, flies inverted. Heck, it even hovers now. Adding floats lowered the CG and somehow made the rudder way more effective, it'l hover very easily. Kinda rediculous for a warbird.

Oh, and it turns out if you fly long enough while it's snowing you do need to de ice RC planes. ;)

i have 5 acres to fly in at my local park

5 acres is generally plenty. Can't make much use of 800 acres with most planes.

Discovered that the plane will haul the floats and a gopro. Not nearly as much thrust but great for video and pictures.

I'm back in the land of internet. :D

Loops, rolls, inverted, hovering. Goofy for a float plane.

Made a quick holster for the gopro out of paper and tape, then hot glued it to the right wing. Worked well enough for getting some good stills. Be aware, this is a warbird, not a video platform. I'm not flying perfectly smooth.

First Flight with the Floats. Probably a bit boring, was a little tail heavy and landed quickly. When flying with the float's I used a 1500mAh 3s to keep the weight down, but flying with the Go-Pro shows that really wasn't needed.

Here is my final version. I made the rear turtle shell removable for now in case of servo adjustments. Now if I could just get a break in the rain....

I am using power pack C, so emax 2215/09, 30amp esc and a 2200 battery. CG was right on your mark about 2" in finger length back. I also glued the wings but the gear is removable and uses the rubber bands for shocks, similar to the Sportster design. Could totally have left the wing as removable though. For gear I use 1/8" music wire and I like the foam replacement wheels for that horizon apprentice....6.50 for a 3 pack is a steal.
