4s 2208 on 6045 prop in Alpha?

hello everyone,

thank you for the help in advance.

i am building modified Alpha planes with the intent of a strong fast 4s battery/motor serip. i stepped up from the recommended 2205 to a 2207.5 2300kv that said it could handle 2-4s. i ran it on 4s 1500mah w/6045 prop, i got about 3 minutes and the motor was gone….totally dead.

what did i do wrong?
wrong prop for motor?

better motor recommendations?
i want insane power and speed.

I am guessing from the sound of it it could be that you put too big a prop on it. I am guessing that it was meant to use a 6045 on 2s and then for each cell you go up you subtract 1".
As for a new motor what size esc do you have?

If you have a 50A esc you can use this motor

and it will give you great speed! You can use a 6x5 prop with 4s on this or I use 5x4.3x3 on it with 4s and as you can see in this video it does not lack speed!

yes, i definitely fried it. think “cole trickle” here…i can fly but am just now learning the mechanics.

it was listed as 2-4s…

40amp esc, 6045 prop.

i fly my larger planes at an airpark, we had 15 mph winds today, i really think the plane was doing 100mph + on 4s with the wind. I will post vids once I am back up.

i have never heard “each cell you go up minus 1 inch?”

So should i go 5” prop? and can still run 4s 2200mah? 5x45?

NOTE: i am looking for tear a hole in the atmosphere kinda fast…

Well I think that was your problem.....I am not super sure but I can't think of anything else. What brand is it? Are the coils blackened anywhere inside?

also have these, these are pretty strong, i am confident they would hold up providing its the correct size snd pitch.

Hey wait a minute, I've got the 2750kv version in my arrow running a 6045 prop on 4s with no issues! (gonna try 5x5 for more speed)

so a 5x45 will give more top end? they look so small though…

Yup, the 5x4.5 will definitely give higher top speed.
