4s 2208 on 6045 prop in Alpha?

Oh btw, the Arrow RIPS!!! By far the fastest plane I've ever flown, and that's saying something, because I flew My Spitfire with a 3536 on it and hit 89mph, (gonna go for a 3548) But the Arrow is Still FASTER!! But all of the electronics just BARELY fit.

I think I am going to get a speed tracker come April! (I was holding off spending anything until April.)

thank you again. trying to get going here has honestly been a disaster. i have bo one to ask questions to 😑

am i allowed to lost links here? it was the only 2208 i could find on amazon, was actually a 2207.5.

i havent pulled the motor yet, will let you know how it looks when i do. i plugged another motor in the esc and it worked 👌🏻

so 5x45 prop?

i have 5x4x3 but they dont seem very strong, pretty flimsy.
Yeah you can post links here!

i just purchased the 2750 kv version 🤔

which plane you flying? my mind is thinking of like Arrows Viper which is jet…so, I am not tracking.

so a 5x45 will give more top end? they look so small though…

i also have 5x3x3

🙏
Smaller props with a higher pitch get more top speed but less power the larger prop diameter has more drag but more overall power.

I'm a bit busy designing my wildcat now, How soon do you want them?
no rush, just trying to visually compare.

from reading you use the same on 4s, i dont believe the motor should have failed.

how often are you WOT (wide open throttle)? i will admit i run WOT a lot, but was doing burst across a 2000ft section, dropping throttle, turning, bursting. Again, made it about 3 mins.

That’s sorta what I do, because I can’t hold WOT for too long before I cant see it!😂

If you’ll notice, the esc‘s heat sink is flush with the bottom of the plane, this is purely to keep my esc from catching on fire if I ever put 50 amps through it (the air should keep the esc cool enough so it can handle the extra load) and I recommend doing the same. Also, you can probably tell that this is one of my oldest motors, it’s been through a lot, but it’s still holding up strong!

...what did i do wrong?...
I always test an new setup as follows.
Run the motor at full speed for 10 seconds or so. Then stop, take the temperature of everything, the motor, ESC & battery, by touching them. Warm is OK but if anything is so hot you don't want to hold it, then STOP. That's too hot, try a smaller prop. If it passes, try a 30 second run and take the temperatures. If it passes, try a 60 second run and take the temperatures. If it passes, go for a fly.

It's always a good practice to take the temperatures after a fly. Keep in mind that a setup that worked when it is mild, 70'sF, may overheat when it is hot outside 95F+.

Yeah when I was do all my WOT it was like 15 out, so no chance of it over heating.

Yup, the 5x4.5 will definitely give higher top speed.
Only if it spins faster or is more efficient.
External temperature on the motor is only an indication of heat dissipation. Doesn't say what the wires are doing inside. Typical wire varnish gets funny above 180 C (356f) don't know about chineseium varnish, too hot to the touch is around 100C (212f) most people

I use that setup on my 2306 and it really makes my planes go!
i am running 60 amp esc 4s 2200mah 120c 2808 2750k w/ 5x4x3 prop, and its not what I am looking for. Not fast enough and not even close to enough torque.

i am so open to suggestions as i am learning gear now and not sure what motor(s) to try next

In this video I was using my 2306 Emax ECO II with a 50A esc and a 850mah 4S 65V on the Mini FT Mustang paired with a 5x4.3x3 prop.
