Oh man you HAVE to also make an alternate CH 46 fuselage for that tandem. We have a reserve squadron not far from me and they regularly fly over where I live. You KNOW what is in the air long before you see those beasties. There was actually two of them in the air in that video I made with the geese migrations a while back. You just could not see them with just the FPV camera.
Actually, those mechanics were originally designed for a CH-47 Chinook fuselage. I had to modify them as I wanted something more unique, hence the Piasecki. I‘m surprised your are seeing 46s still flying. There aren’t too many left after the Marines retired and replaced them with V-22s.

That said, I’m still planning on modeling a Chinook someday. Will likely end up buying the Vario twin 700 kit, but it’s a healthy chunk of change. Got to see 3 of them fly at the Southern Scale Helicopter Challenge last year, and they are amazing!

Now that you said that... It has been a while since I saw a 46 up close. I assumed the ones bouncing between Niagara Falls and Rochester were 46's after seeing the first ones flying directly overhead during training ops or for the Geneseo air shows. Get so used to seeing them when back in the Navy they are all chinooks so 46 and 47 blur into one and the same at some point. (Think Steve Buscemi) AHHH STOP YELLING AT ME!!! :ROFLMAO: I'm gettin old.

Just did some searching on what squadrons were there and learned there is also MQ9 reapers stationed there as well. No wonder I feel like someone's watching me all the time. Shhh they will hear you... the Chair is against the wall, I repeat the Chair is against the wall..o_O:devilish:

A few more photos from flying this morning. First time out trying the new tail servo in some heavy winds. It performed perfectly! Tail held rock solid. I think that I have finally cracked the code to making this an everyday flyer!

Finally received my Aluminum gear this morning, and I can’t wait to start getting the Apache back together. The gear came out great!

If it’s built light enough, and you use the stock belt drive tail, you may not have the problems that I have. Others have built it and made it work stock without any issues. Mine is one heavy machine (9.5 lbs!) ready to fly, and I think that’s the primary cause of the issues. If you still want to see about a metal gear, that might be more difficult. A friend custom made them for me, and he owns all the files. If you PM me, I’ll send you a link to his Facebook profile where you can contact him.

Best of luck with your new Apache, I hope yours comes together easier than mine did!

There was a piece of titanium yellin use me!!! So he’s making it of titanium, i’m wondering what it wil do with the heat… do you use some lubricant? And with witch pinion do u use at the end? 13/14 teeth?

That is awesome!! I certainly wish mine was titanium. Mine is 6065 aluminum and I'm slowly wearing through it unfortunately. I use the Aeropanda Dry Gear lubricant on mine: https://aeropanda.com/collections/grease-lubricants/products/dryfluid_gear_10ml. I run a 14T brass pinion on mine to attempt to minimize wear as well.

Waiting takes long… but the new engine is almost in!
In the mean time painted my apache at example of the dutch demo team.

Hopefully it will fly as good as the demo team ☺️
