Hey Guy. Thanks for the video. From your video everything looks okay but your first throw was weird, it looked tail heavy. Your second throw looked better, maybe it just needs a lot of speed.

When you did your previous maiden flights did you have the nose weight as seen in the video? If not try your maiden again now that it's balanced. Give it 70% throttle and throw it hard as you can at 45 degrees into the air, it should fly now. Just keep you speed up at first until you can see what it's gonna do.

Well, yes

Was sooo weird :) but i didn't cut this footage because it was at a 45° throw too and might have brought lights of some sort with the plane behavings.

I'll stick the camera on my head and try a maiden soon. As i have chances to eat some grass again, i decided to cut a new 55% mini racer and have already shoot some of the cuts&glueings i have done to build it if some are interested, just ask :)

I'll post the maiden video when i have a chance to fly this thing.

Thanks again you all for joining this thread and potentially bring this to a success.

I saw more than 2400 view on this thread so i guess the content interests a lot a people. I'll keep documenting with pictures and videos to keep it interesting for everyone.

Best&Bless

Driftin' with the wind...
I have a question. What is the AUW (all up weight) ready to fly? My 55% FT Spitfire weighs 170grams has a larger wing area then the FT Racer, that might have something to do with it.
On my Spitfire I have 200grams of thrust at my disposal. With the setup you have you should be getting about 150grams of thrust on the 4.1x4.1 prop. The motor is 2100kv right? if so it should be going about 15,540RPM, (revolutions per minute) my spitfire has a lager prop (4.75x4.75) and is going 22,940RPM. That might also have something to do with is as well.
And don't try to fly slow, If you try to fly slow it doesn't fly. Fly at 100% throttle at first and get it up three mistakes high and get used to the characteristics, and then you can back off the throttle and try things.

Here is my modified 55% FT Racer I threw together in the last two days. It weighs 137grams ready-to-fly, has under cambered wings, and is a handful in the air.
Here is a picture:

And here are the electronics:

Hi Christopher14

Thank you for your last input.

Do you have a flight video of this plane ? would be great.

I'll try mine as soon as the weather is good enough ;-)

I'll check your setup if mine is not doing good on my builts.

Best&Bless.

Guy.

Sorry, I don't have any flight videos. I would not recommend covering the plane in tape though, the plane does not fly well when it is covered with tape.

Nice mini racer Christopher. I bet it is a handful in the air do to your full undercamber wings with a mini speed setup . Your going to be fighting all that back pressure the undercamber produces for lift. You should try for a full wing. I bet itll fly 10x better, just a idea

Hmmmm. Now that I think about it the 55% FT Spitfire I made did have a full wing and flew amazing, I was wondering why the 55% mini Racer didn't fly so well. (not to mention keeping orientation with the black tape job:p) Unfortunately the mini Racer had a wipeout at 60mph, oops. Although I will probably build another one with a NN Speed Wing, and a new 3100kv motor. Mmmmm speed.

Any new developments?

Hi there

here are the last pics i took

NOTA: this is the second plane since the first one was a genuine failure in flight.

This one flew a bit then went nose down cause i found i did not have enough throw on the elevator. You can see i did glue some gift card on the elevator to raise its authority

Need to try this but it is freeeeeeeezing in texas right now. Maybe during the we though, along with my nnMig3

nota
Yesssss i did add some right thrust on the motor mount since i saw Josh doing this on one of his mighty

cheers me friendz
