It's been a while, and I've started a new project a few days ago to hopefully bring to Flite Fest this summer. Designing an airliner is something I've been trying to do for years, but lack of resources and, more importantly, underdeveloped cad skills have hindered its progress.

Expected Specs:

1390mm Wingspan
1460mm Length
2x XFly Galaxy 64mm EDFs
7x 9g Micro Servos (Flaps, Tail Surfaces)
4x 5g Sub-Micro Servos (Flaperons, Ailerons)
1x 15g Mini Servo (Nose Gear)
1x 40g Standard Servo (Main Gear)
2x 2200mah 4s batteries
2x 60A ESCs

I haven't posted for a few months because of school stuff (Free at last 🔥) and AP testing, all while some other projects I've been working on are competing for my time.

As for this project, the wing section joiners are bit cursed due to the way I implemented the plane's wing shape:

The profiles of the wing spars don't line up so I had to design some plastic aligners to hold a flat aluminum plate at the right angle (This took a while because Onshape doesn't seen to think some surfaces on the part are flat even though they should be)

Right now I'm designing it as I go, but there will be some form of plans (I can also share the Onshape doc if anyone wants it)

It's annoying to have to use aluminum everywhere but at least I have a bunch from my old FTC robot frames

This thing miiight be a little heavy

1 wing and most of the fuselage is done

and waiting on some micro servos to finish the other wing

It's like really heavy
The wing and batteries already weigh 1670g

Total weight looks like it's gonna be over 2kg
but the engines are capable of over 2kg total so it's probably fine
