64mm EDF Scratch Build

It may do 550g with good flow. 450g was in an airframe. I'd try a wattmeter if you want 4s. Don't know of it will handle it.

Yeah I dont have a meter but will check with my local sources when the motor comes in.

And so it begins

We opt'd for the KISS build.

So the airframe is going to use the wing from the Twin Boomer but the whole thing is going to be a lot lighter.

I mean why not. I could have built up a whole airframe but a simple light weight design will be rather exciting.

how do you figure out where the CG should be? and what is you AUW?

I have only flown edf's before using my 1300mah 3s pack. I just finished a delta wing scratch build but had to use two 1300mah packs to balance it out. My AUW is now 600g....so im a bit worried my 64mm edf might not be enough.

Changed it up

This evening I completely redid the thrust tube on the EDF plane.

Nope

Recall the design team.
The plane is just to heavy.

So ditching the landing gear, moving the motor in-line make building a lighter/sleeker fuselage.

Going to build a new set of wings as well.

a bit confusing, it seemed to move pretty good on the ground....which to me would say it isn't too heavy and it has enough power. But at the same time, it looks like you should have enough wing to get it in the air.

one thought tho, isn't that thrust tube a bit restrictive?

Could be.

I'll try this setup tomorrow.
I could remove the cups I have inside the tube and open it up.

I looked back to earlier pics, that thrust tube likely is not too restrictive. I was only looking at the pics just posted and didn't realize there was a tube inside. But, it never hurts to get air in and out of a EDF as easy as possible.

Well that is why the tube is in there to keep the air moving smoothly.

But I'll try this tomorrow and if it fails I'll pull the internals.
