@Firestar119 Did you have any issues putting together the drag brakes/using them in flight beyond needing them for extra elevon authority? I’m thinking of including something similar in a future combat wing, since yaw control seems useful

Hopefully, because the impact was strong enough to remove the charging port door
I would NEVER put my Hero 11 up up into a combat plane! LOL (At least not unless I was so rich I didn't know what to do with all my money! JK 😂 ) But I guess a hero 11 costs a bit more than what you got there.....

The brakes don't really have a much effect as I hoped for, but it is more than nothing and it looks cool

The mixing is a bit tricky especially if you include elevon controls along with braking capability

Okay, thanks, that’s good to know! Sounds like it’s definitely worth a try :D

Camera hit looks like a prop strike. Have 10ft of oak trim somewhere that my slow stick motor chewed through, looks just like that.

For combat, you need to survive a hit. Strong don't cut it, you need tough and the ability to keep mostly controlled flying. Random parts jettison is a given. Super strong heavy airplane is also called target.

Hits to the rear motor mount area are what took it out both times

The first time was repairable, but the second time was a hit from a similarly sized wing that totaled the center section

It's neat that those (I assume) 3d printed motor pods held up with all the damage so close to them!

The other wing that took you out didn't happen to be orange and white, did it? I know I hit another fairly big wing in combat today...

I'm pretty sure the wing that took me down also crashed
Yeah, mine definitely crashed after that hit I mentioned. I was just too focused on trying to save it to see who I hit so that's why I was curious. I think it was at least a pretty big wing like yours, and it looked like the wings almost split at the center, so I thought it would have been cool if that was you! :p

Sorry to hijack the thread lol! From what I saw you were doing great in combat, do you think you'll build something similar for combat next year?

Yup that was definitely me.

I am also planning to improve this design for next year, maybe with a bit smaller wingspan.
