Cool, Im happy that I can help a little bit to improve your awesome design :)

For me it performed better with a lot of thrust while it felt kinda tail heavy during slow flights. Though I wouldnt give that much value too my experiences. My wings are way from perfect as I got less dihedral and some warp on it due to my warped wr foam board. The needed trim on the ailerons is noticeable more than on any other plane I built before. Btw, i did use the gauge for setting up all angles and programmed the given expo. Actually this is the first time I ever did that on a plane without running into problems first :)

Im able to fly again next week end, then Ill do some more testing and will come back to you with my results.

Well this has turned into a 2 month build behind other projects and traveling, but I'm still chugging along! Today I did all the cuts for the wings - just need to assemble them now.

Since I'm actually seeing the light at the end of the tunnel I went to order hardware... and the NTM 3536 is out of stock :( Does anyone know if it will be coming back? HobbyKing can be a mystery.

Does anyone have any good NTM 3536 alternatives in a similar price range? I was really hoping to push more than a kilowatt in this build and I really liked that there was a $12 motor capable of that.

Side note: FYI Nic, the link to the Dynam 80A ESC is dead.

My Spitfire

Here is my spitfire plane.
FT Spitfire with 1080 diameter of wing
and a nnSpitfire 800 series
both of them slightly modified, cause it made from depron.

I wanted to say to everyone: so far you all are rocking this design. Everyone of your builds are coming out with solid clean lines and I just love seeing your work. Thank you all for sharing your builds up to this point! I've added them all to my site to show them off!

Nice! I really like the blue camouflaged one.

arhif: Im not able to see the pictures. I had the problem too and I helped myself by adding the link to the pictures rather than uploading them.

nic: Was able to tame my spit this weekend. Reduced overall weight, pushed the cg even more forward and added expo to the elevator. My cg is now at 3cm from the leading edge. The trim I need to counteract my warped wing is about 2-3mm on each aileron (down\up). The modified pod managed to survive some landings on a gravel road, one of them was quite hard. In flight the characteristics where a lot better than last time. I was surprised how slow I was able to fly her without stalling. Only thing to watch out is the use of my extended rudder. It is nice to fly turns, but other than that its more a "do what ever you want" stick with the possibility of stalls. Its hard to describe but in combination with my dihedral the bigger rudder sometimes does some unexpected stuff :). But all in all the bird is now tuned correctly and a treat to fly and Im looking forward to my next session

The NTM series is getting a v2 reboot. I haven't seen the 1800kv yet but I hope they bring it back, it's one of their best motors. I don't know of any other motor that performs like this one.

Thanks for the heads up on the broken link, I've fixed it now.

No problem! And in regards to the NTM series, I have also noticed Propdrive V2 models popping up. Hopefully they bring back the 1800kv, because like you said there isn't much that matches the performance per mass of that motor. I imagine it was a popular motor so hopefully the replacement is coming soon. I've been searching for alternatives and haven't really found any.

I emailed HobbyKing but I'm not holding my breath for a response.

Well it's pretty fast now!

So I repaired/replaced the fairings and made a new pod with the 2500kv motor.

I'm now running on 3s with a 7x5 on a 40 amp esc. I'm also trying out the yellow spinner again and it seems to be holding up ok.

It's quite tricky to launch now as there isn't much static thrust and punching the throttle from a standstill torques it quite a bit.

But once it's up it really rips. I'm not sure how fast but it's certainly in the silly speed category. It sounds cool too.

Everything runs ok buy the 40A esc gets pretty warm/hot

It's definitely a motor I would recommend for this plane on an advanced set up.

Almost forgot. Hers a picture. It will get some more paint soon:

I think it's dead

I hooked up my new power set up with a 4s battery.

Guess what happens when you clip the wingtip on a small branch on a 80+ mph flyby....

Finally got to maiden my full size nnSpitfire. Flew great although I did have to trim in quite a bit of up elevator. On to paint. Thanks Nic!

I've built my brother a 800mm spit for his birthday.

20170502_230254_resized.jpg

20170502_230318_resized.jpg

I'm going to paint it tomorrow then add the canopy and exhaust stack, which will be painted silver.

I haven't bothered with the rudder as I'm trying to keep the cost down and I never used it much with my spit.

The build came out really nice. I want to keep it for myself ^^

So here she is all finished.

20170504_202603_resized.jpg

20170504_202619_resized.jpg

It's looks quite similar to the one I made for myself and crashed recently, only this time the build is 100% straight and very clean.

My brother likes to fly on the edge so I hope he gets to enjoy it before he smashes it up ^^

Wake up! Time to fly!
That almost looks too pretty to fly and risk a crash. Nice build Love the darker paint scheme for the camo too.
