Airplane fpv?

sounds like you have had some bad experiences... take off and landing has been a breeze for me, very easy. regarding the jerky, either you have some bad setups or are just flying in rather turbulent air. and sure, servos are slower to respond then current motors, so a well tuned quad and out correct much of your turbulence issues. However, when I get my rather small wings above the turbulence from the wind going over the trees, the signal is very smooth. I am looking forward to trying out iNAV 3.0 on my FT Dart, as it has added D term as an option for fixed wings, so we will see how it does with that added and my digital servos running at 100hz.
I've done a lot of FPV with planes on analog and DJI, but compared to the silky smooth of FPV on a quad with DJI video, I have not returned to it since building 20 quads with DJI HD systems. The only way I can tell I am actually flying a plane is lack of visibility and comparative jerkiness - I can't see the airplane I am flying, and the only thing I can see is where the plane is pointing. LOS works better for me in an aircraft; and being able to instantly point a quad for visuals makes the FPV comparison seem claustrophobic with a wing.

I’m probably if I get fpv going to put it on my simple stick. Would probably need to figure out how to set up expo first tho🤣

how much moola you think I got🤣 the dji system is just a touch over what I’m gonna spend for fpv😂
Build a module that you can switch between planes. That does not work so well with quads, but you may notice that the Flite Test folks do that for a lot of their videos where they use DJI FPV on their monster builds.

Yeah dji system is what I want. But that would create a serious dent in my bank account🤣 with 1k I could make aprox 7 airplanes without fpv.

+1 on ev800ds, Im still using mine regularly almost a year into fpv

The caddx ant looks like a 30-40$ fpv camera but is ~15$ and weighs 2.3 grams, definitely my favorite camera. You get a cheap vtx and you have a good quality 30$ fpv setup.

I love Fixed wing FPV myself. Ive done a few quads but it never holds my attention for pure fun flying.

I've always recommended the "All in One" cameras for people just starting out. Id say go for the cloverleaf. Ive owned many of both and i find the cloverleaf to be much better. I rarely attach my camera with anything more than velcro so i seldom receive damage. (And im hard on mine) ive had to straighten the clover quite a few times and ive re soldered a connection or two but they seem to hold up better than one might think.

I prefer to run the camera off of a bec, either right off the esc or separate device but ive thrown an AiO camera with a 1s drone battery on many things for a quick FPV spin, be it my kids toy tank, or my UMX Timber...

And another +1 for the eachine 800 goggles. Still use mine all the time (and i own Dji systems)

I have to admit that small wings are tough to fly in turbulent air, but not having to land every 5-7 minutes to change batteries more than makes up for it. Stabilization can make a big difference on small planes to absorb the bumps. So far my best results have been with arduplane, over iNav, over the FT Aura, over raw RC.

here is an AiO at a very turbulent air location

here is ~45 minutes from an AiO at 25mw on the plan in my PFP

here is an FT Dart with a Flight controller on it running iNav, with an upgraded separate camera/VTX I don't know that I had the PIFF tuned in completely... I am looking forward to putting iNAV 3.0 on it to get a d-term and the improved auto config stuff.

Actually had to re-upload. Not sure what YuToob wuz doing, but it was still processing 12 hours later. LOL
Video of the maiden with the Sinopine 200mw AIO camera. (flying in VERY choppy air)

Wish I could swap the lens out. way too HUGE field of view. Makes it difficult to judge distances.

That is shaky. Do you have your AiO powered off of the receiver or a separate BEC? (I found powering off the reciever tends to inject a bunch of noise in the video signal via the power rail and servos... a capacitor could help also)

You should proximity fly those trees and make the flight more interesting ;)
