I've been impressed with the Aeroscout community, so much so I developed several wing kits that are compatible with it. I took it one step further with an entirely new fuselage and system all together for it that I call the Alt-Aero.
This is a kit you have to put together and it's pretty novice builder friendly. It's a combination of hot wire cut eps foam, balsa and thin ply. I have it paired in the photo's with one of the Aeroscout wings I call the Sport wing, a foam and balsa based version. It requires nothing special along the gear, any standard park flyer off the shelf gear is all that's required for that element and the latest revision is an extended motor mount plate to allow for larger props and more flexibility along motor options.
I built it to be easy to outfit with exposed electronics and the fuse pod is solid core, the combination of the balsa and light ply ties it together for a very robust platform. This will take a serious beating, well in excess of what the original Aeroscout can do, it's lighter at 1.4 pounds flying weight too. I also added Doculam covering in clear for covering the fuse and wing, and opted for some Ultracoat Parklite on the original because I had a remnant left over so put it to use.
I have it offered at my website along with more ongoing photo's instructions and the rest: https://happyrcflyer.com/alt-aero/ I'm also letting letting people choose from the range of wings I have developed to pair with it, not just the foam wing version. https://happyrcflyer.com/aeroscout-wings/
