Just think AMA has 2,400 clubs there are roughly 277,660 member at $75 dollars for membership that is $20,824,500 and out of their heart they are giving away 70 kits what a joke. Like the idea but falls way short to it`s paying members. Can you tel I have a bit of disdain for the AMA.
Had to update up date my math as current membership is $89 so that comes out to $24,711,740 and they could not give each club one.

For what it is worth... This program is through the AMA Foundation -
- there are only 77 clubs signed up for the training-starter day program.
-each one of those clubs will receive one of the kits with all accessories to finish, minus receiver/Tx
-this initiative is through the AMA Foundation
The Foundation’s main source of revenue is individual and corporate DONATIONS. In its most recent public financial data, 95% of its $394,255 in total revenue came from contributions from donors, members, and partners. The remaining ~5% came from investment income (about $23,500).
How Donations Are Used
The AMA Foundation uses these funds to:- Support scholarships for students and clubs.
- Provide grants for club training, site improvements, and community outreach.
- Help with rebuilding after natural disasters.
- Support the National Model Aviation Museum and its collections.
- Fund programs and events that promote safe, creative, and educational model aviation.
Other Funding Streams
While donations are the primary source, the Foundation also receives:- Investment income from its assets (about 6% of revenue).
- Net fundraising income from events and campaigns (though in 2024 this was $0).
In summary: The AMA Foundation’s money mainly comes from donations from individuals, clubs, and corporations, supplemented by investment income, and is used to fund scholarships, grants, museum support, and community programs for the model aviation community

Their special insurance is basically a third party insurance once your own insurance is exhausted then they might help. There is no way to actually find out if they have or amount if any payouts. They pay a third party when it comes to payouts and that information is not available.

77 kits is still a whole lot better than 0 kits, in my opinion. I don’t think the AMA is perfect either, and there are definitely things they could do better, but I still think this is something worth supporting. Sure, it isn’t going to put a free kit in every AMA member’s hands, but if it helps 77 clubs bring new people into the hobby, I’d call that a worthwhile start. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, or so they say...

FT has done more to bring in new people then AMA ever dream`t of, as they always catered to the balsa world. Foam board planes have opened up the world of RC to just about anyone that has an interest.
