Amazing Stories. The Mission. 1985

Anyone remember this episode?

Kinda hit home for me in particular.

Anywho, I'd love to see a two part challenge on this bird (B 17).
Would be awesome to see any and all of FT who'd be willing to take part do their own design, regardless of skill level. Help from one to another would be great so long as each kept to their own basic idea.
Then if they were to take it a step further and make a final bird using everyone's ideas from their own builds, well I'd imagine the greater portion of FT's audience would enjoy it if not all.

You could go a step further and simplify the design into another ft model and perhaps sbk.

Winner to be decided by vote via forum. Maybe share a piece of history along the way.

What say you? (Directed at all of forum as well as FT staff).

I'm not sure exactly what the challenge is. Is it to just build a B-17?

I looked up the episode of Amazing Stories that you're referring to. Interesting enough when I was at Airventure in Oshkosh last year I caught part of a man's speech about his clubs B-17 (a real one) and he said that there aren't any reported stories of anyone ever being trapped in the bottom gunner area of a B-17 while having the landing gear fail.

(I guess the episode is about a gunner being trapped in a B-17's bottom gunner area.)

The bird from the episode.

This is from google, so hopfully not out of scope.

First image is:
Top left: The picture the gunner drew while trapped and they were looking for a way to fix the gear or land inverted (both lost causes in the episode)
Bottom left: The gunner / artist
Bottom right: What appeared (in the episode... think original Twilight Zone type show)

Daughter says the episode is free to watch online, but I'm not having much luck finding where and she might as well be speaking greak on internet stuff. Will try to get her to send me a link when she's where she can and will post here.

Actually, I think I remember it too. Which is weird because I was born in 1986. I must have seen it as a repeat. LOL. And I barely, vaguely, remember like, a second of it.
