Antenna problem

I bought these antennas a while ago, TBS Triumph https://www.getfpv.com/tbs-triumph-5-8ghz-cp-fpv-antenna-3298.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4v3P9r_n1gIVV21-Ch01WAvlEAQYASABEgKh5fD_BwE and something seems to be missing? The center pin is missing as you can see compared to the Fat Shark on the left it has the pin. I bought two of these and both the center pins are missing.

Or maybe I dont know what I am doing. I fired up my fpv stuff and no video! I am glad I didn't burn out my Tx...I had a second set of Fat Shark antennas and everything worked perfectly. I am not sure I can send these back now as I purchased them 6 months ago...

The pin isn't missing. The connector is of the opposite polarity.

The one with the missing pin is a male RP-SMA connector (RP = Reverse Polarity). The Female connector you want to connect it to is an SMA.

You can buy an RPSMA-to-SMA adapter -- it's a short connector that will go between them, male on one side and female on the other, with both (or neither) sides having the pin . . . or you can make sure the next antenna has an SMA connector on it. Your call.

I wasnt sure, but I could have sworn I ordered the sma.

I had this happen when I was just starting in the hobby. I was trying cheaper antennas as I am brutal on them with gates. I got a set that were that way and all I did since I could not send them back was to cut a piece of wire that was thick enough to stay in the hole and made my own pins. Its a temp fix til you get the correct ones but it will get you in the air. Just remember that you did that and if you have to take the antenna off for any reason keep an eye out for the bare wire as you don't need that falling on to other electronics and causing short circuits.

Return denied, arggg, it was my bad though, after reviewing the order I saw that I did indeed order the rp-sma. You gotta be careful and read the fine print. All my FatShark stuff is sma, Im not sure what is rp-sma or why you would want that?

The reason for different plugs is due to the FCC regs that basically state any certified RF device sold should have a unique antenna connection that prevents unlicensed consumers from putting a higher gain antenna on said device in order to boost performance and potentially increase interference for others in area. Kind of pointless, as soon as a new connector hits the market, aftermarket retailers quickly release products for the new plug. Also, I don't think any FPV transmitters have FCC approval anyway, so technically all users should have their HAM license.

Keep this pic handy for future use, also remember to verify right vs left hand polarization between antennas.

Problem Solved

I ordered some of these on Amazon. These will work perfectly and then I wont have to bend the antenna up either.
