Nice build. Looks like the Su27. Is it the one from Parkjets? I can't help but notice you are using Depron. Are you located in the US and if so where did you source? I have been using pink fanfold from Home Depot since Depron is so hard to come by.

@luvmy40 - you're correct in that the 13th squadron plans need work and are not the same quality as the FT plans. I've only built the F6F and the P47. I didn't have good luck with the 11X17 plans for the F6F but the full size plans were better. I don't believe his plans are computer generated but made by hand designing the parts. Plans are then made from the templates. The F6F was his first plane.

Good morning everyone. This is my pusher F4 Phantom 2 from Parkjets.com. I changed it up some by adding a folded wing ( fiberglass spars) with balsa and basswood for stiffeners throughout the fuse. Right now with no paint or electronics it weighs in at 624 grams

Never heard of Parkjets.com until now. That's one diverse range, everything from profile to 'master series' style! Nice to see an appearance from FRC Foamies on there as well. I'm liking your F4, the way you've bevelled those edges had me not realising it had flat sides until I blew the picture up to full screen!

@shadeyB's been getting his plans elsewhere, I'll let him explain.

Oh and also; welcome! It's nice to see another parkjet appreciator! Here's mine, waiting to be glued back together atm:

Had another hour this evening on my EDF Hawker Hunter (50mm FMS fan off 3s battery). Elevators shaped and covered and thin hinges inserted into slits in the balsa. Getting close to a viable object for a test flight…

So far just over 360g including fan and BEC. Should be around 600g RTF (I hope!)

That is too cool  for school. Well done so far. That's the type of build that I enjoy doing.

I started the 13th Squadron Mini Zero build today. I ran into several problems.

First off, I imported the full size plans to Inkscape. The only editing I did was to fit all the pieces onto two 20"x 30" sheets and to fix the line colors to work with my GRBL GCode extension.

The first issue was when I noticed the main fuse skin with the top hatch/canopy cut out. The canopy cut out was way off center. So, I printed the plans to hand cut the part. The printed plans were at a completely different scale(smaller) than the import. I just traced the original cut, centered the cut out, and cut it by hand.

The next issue I found was with the tail fuse section fit to the the horizontal and vertical stabs. The cut out for the tail feathers was about 1/2" too deep for the stab assembly. I had to trim it shorter to fit the tail assembly. Then, there was no relief for down elevator incorporated(wouldn't have been there even if I hadn't had to trim it).

The next issue was with the fit/scale of the canopy/hatch to the main fuse. As you can see in the pics, they do not match up at all. It should fly OK, and from 10' away, you'll not see it, but it ain't right.

Has anyone else seen any of these issues with these plans? This is the first 13th Squadron build I have tackled. View attachment 233990 View attachment 233991 View attachment 233992 View attachment 233993 View attachment 233994 View attachment 233995

I had no issues with the 13th Squadron plans. Everything fit really well. I printed directly from the PDF though. I wonder if somehow importing them into Inkscape could have changed something about them?

My Zero is also one of my best flying foam board models. I was actually considering starting another one from them soon.

I have found that some PDFs don't have correct size information in the file and mis-scale when imported into other programs. Either that, or the size information it does contain is different than the default measurements the importing program is looking for. For instance, when a PDF is created using inches and then the importing program expects pixels, or mm, etc.

That may be my issue. I do set up my documents in Inkscape in mm. I'll try setting it up in inches and see if things match up better with the 13th squadron plans.

That's beautiful. I was planning on using an xing 2207 1800kv with 7 x 6 prop, 40amp esc,
Am in the uk but where to get it in US is speak to Greg at https://www.rcdepron.com/

Thank you sir. I appreciate the info.

got some good progress on the 80% FT F-16. When I first started foam board planes, the worst part for me was cutting. I was looking for solutions like needle cutters or laser cutters. I don't know when it happened, but cutting is one of my favorite things now. Weird.

Anyway, here it is with its 90% brother. The 100% size build is no longer on this earth. The 90% build won't be here much longer since I need to pull servos and the motor out of it soon.

That’s weight minus battery (also minus receiver and one servo). I think it’ll be 600g RTF - should be very flyable on 3s (if my skills on the sticks can keep up!)
