I know these tubbies are popular right now with FT...I'm hoping they get back to real Master Series style planes soon!https://ftca.flitetest.com/product/ft-tubby-b-17/ . Buwahahahaha!![]()

Absolutely love it 👍Slow progress on the B-17, but its coming along. At least its not a stubby, cartoon version!![]()
thanks buddy 👍 try not to fly it if the grass is too long there😂 found another flying site alsoHow did you end up addressing the “long grass breaks stuff” issue? Mow the lawn or change the design a tad? And that thing is so darn pretty. So impressed.
Everyone is about “they”, pick the MS you think is missing, design it, build it, refine it, publish it. Now everyone has it. If everyone would do this with one plane we’d be so over run with great free designs ,, okay , and some not so great, that everyone would have more than they could ever build.I know these tubbies are popular right now with FT...I'm hoping they get back to real Master Series style planes soon!
I talked to Josh at FliteFest over the summer and got the impression that FT has multiple people working on designs right now, and that each of them has kind of a different preference. So Josh's designs like the Retro Rocket and Tubby B-17 are trending towards being wacky, but other people might be working on things that are more scale, or suited for 3D, etc. I think the cartoony planes are a cool way to push the envelope of what we can build with foam (and I plan to build a Retro Rocket this winter), but I'm also hopeful that means there's some scale stuff in the pipeline and some simpler builds like the Jenny for variety!Everyone is about “they”, pick the MS you think is missing, design it, build it, refine it, publish it. I’m not personally thrilled by MS but I do have ideas and plan to put my time where my mouth is.
Even if you never get something to the point of publishing full plans, posting what you do can give other people ideas.
And yeah, I’m not thrilled by cartoon/tubbies that much either but it does show they are being active so that is something as “this to shall pass” and maybe we’ll like the next trend better.
When does this happen? Also, I do agree that people should design planes they want. I haven't been doing that for a while either, but I bet a lot of scale, MS-style designs will come out of the FTFC '25 WWII challenge that's starting up soon!![]()
It’s going to be going on over the winter—it ends March 31st. Here’s the thread:When does this happen?

Very well done‼️Test flying and painting next, as well as adding the 50 cal guns. Shortly after the last picture was taken, I accidentally busted several of the guns off and will have to redrill the holes to mount new ones. My lesson? Don't glue in the guns. That said, she flew well with some trimming and slowed down nicely for landing, even without flaps. Once I get the Memphis Belle graphics on (thanks, Callie Graphics!), I'll fly it again and get video.
It’s a storch, I recognise the front of the noseStarted the next phase of the new plane. Any guesses ? View attachment 145728
