Very close! But actually I based it roughly on the Sonicmodel AR wing👍 (because it had 3 dimensional images!😂😂)

So I traded my E-flite Balsa ARF J-3 cub for a RMRC Recruit. Pretty even trade and we both got something we wanted. Turns out The RMRC Recruit is just An AR Wing with a FC and different stickers. So now I have a pair of AR Wings.

He is a Balsa guy, and he was talking about how he always wanted a J3, and I said, Hmmmm. I have an ARF that is just sitting in my basement.

His eyes lit up.like a little kid when I walked in to the office today. 😁

Gave my wife one of those Cubs for her birthday in 2014. She finally wore it out, so I managed to snag another one last year. She loves Cubs! I did have to pull the enormous motor the second Cub had, so I could replace it with something that flies more scale-like.

Cut out the parts for an all-wood model over the last two days, then laminated wood to make the rudder.
The design started as a Curtis Jenny, then mutated into something with shorter wings (for a better roll rate) and a wider forward fuse. Lam 1 shows what I used to make the laminations: a pan filled with boiling water (no ammonia), masking tape, Titebond II glue, and a balsa stripper (to cut the laminations). Glue applied between each strip, the whole thing taped around a cardboard form (covered with plastic sandwich wrap). Last shot shows the results, after drying. The 'glitch' on the top of the rudder will be filled in with spackle, then sanded. I find laminations like this hold up a lot better than a jigsaw puzzle assortment of pieces.
I drew the plans up in LibreCAD; the attached plans shot is a pretty crude, scaled down approximation of the plans I used.
