Anyone know what happened to FT Groups, is it dead?

For about a month now I have been trying to log on to FT Groups. Each time the site cannot be found.

The link is still at the bottom of each FT Forums page.

I'm wondering if the individual that runs the forum is still around and OK... I've had resources pending approval for over a month now. If they're not acceptable for some reason, I've not received a note saying as much. I also note a lot of spam that's not getting cleaned and the offender ousted. Being relatively new, I don't know how prompt things are typically here.

Yea, I’ve noticed a lot more spam as well, definitely more than in the past. The spam aIso hangs around much longer than in the past.

I suspect you are correct, the FT Groups and the increased spam may be connected.

I checked in on groups sometime late 2022 and it was still there, but no activity to speak of. I would not be surprised if they let the domain lapse for lack of use. A shame if that's what happened as it seems like that would be a useful tool to integrate with and connect FTCA members.

It was a different URL from flitetest.com and not just a sub-domain???
Out of curiosity... what was the "FT Groups"?

Ft groups was a form similar to this one, except you had groups. People in a given area had groups to exchange ideas. The main advantage of groups, you could search for members and clubs by location. Just put in a location and a distance from that location the names came up. Not nearly the activity as this forum. I used it 3-4 times a year, mostly when traveling.

It was very useful if you were in a new location and looking for a flying site.

Yeah, It was supposed to be a tool for the community to connect in person and share flying sites, etc. Kind of like the AMA club-finder, but without any official clubs.
I signed up when they launched it, but there never was much activity in my area. I don't think they mentioned it more than once or twice in videos.

Man that'd be nice to have now. There was one flying site near me but they've apparently been closed for years now.
