I just finished reading a letter from the AMA about how they completed a deeper analysis of all of the recent 'close calls' reported by pilots.

From military crashes to a UFO sighting, only a fraction of the reports were legitimately reported “close calls” or “near misses.”

It seems we have grown tired of seeing UFOs and now we have moved onto drones. It's a shame the FAAs analysis was so shabby and sensationalistic, but hey, that's our tax dollars......

Although the pilot simply reported hitting an object, the Internet rumor mill and internal FAA communication may have lead to the assumption that it was drone even before the damage was analyzed, a source told AVweb.

Sadly, the rumour is out there and will be quoted as truth by alarmists far and wide.
