And he (Jeff Daniels) doesn't look so dumb any more, does he?
- somebody elses words. You must always remember that those are someone else words PLUS they are someone elses idea of what they think someone in his shoes would say. Like Superman who dresses like us but isn't one of us. There are kernels of truths in there, and uni-form jabs at party politics, but there are also clues in there as well. Somebody may have truthfully wanted to bare their soul through this character but I gave up learning political views from movies when I was about that young actresses age.
It is also a popular position to run down our own country right now. America Sucks! tell me you didn't hear that all summer last year with a bunch of unwashed, raping, killing, hippy wanna be (save the rape and killing, I don't like hippies but they weren't criminals) plopping down in all their month long protest. So you want to make a movie and try to get your name on a little statue? You try to imitate a concerned citizen and point out how bad we are. Some of the stats are skewed by the way. I remember a specific talk on infant mortality that we aren't on top of and it was our classification. We run infant mortality deaths out to 5 years old, the top countries stop counting after the baby is born. It skews the results. Then you compare diversity in wage and population. Some of these results are thrown off simply because we have more babies born in the back of taxis then they have in hospitals. Our math and science scores are terrible but then we try to educate everyone up to grade 12 and other countries realize there are ditch diggers out there and boot em. I watched the disparity between what the University of Nottingham requires of their students for entry and what we put out, but then I have a co-worker who's son would fit right in and has a full scholarship in Minnesota and has already been talking to Berkly about grad work, he's a Freshman.
Chiefly though, we still are a melting pot. We take in mass populations from other countries each year and they aren't all escaped Nazi Rocket Scientists. There not all mental midgets either but you have people learning a language and a culture and adding to our culture hopefully with the good portions of theirs.
But it's easier and more profitable to say "America Sucks". Yea, easy. I'm going to side with Jackie Chan on this. Jackie wasn't saying we're a bad country, like what was spun last week. Jackie was saying that HE, as a representative of China on foreign soil wasn't going to air dirty laundry in front of other folks. Does China have a corrupt government? How pure is yours? Jackie was saying he is going to be Pro His Country and try to show the positive sides to the world.
I'm pro that.
Now, can we keep off politics on this multi-national board and talk about aircraft like we're supposed to?
