Aviation Camp

Hey everyone,
I am Andrew Carson and I am a teen and have been into the RC hobby for about two years—and I’m totally hooked on flying RC planes.

I run a camp in Littleton, CO called Aviation Camp, where we teach younger kids (ages 9–11) all about RC flight. It’s a three-day camp, and on the final day, we fly our own scratch-built FliteTest planes. It's always the best part!

I was wondering if anyone else is doing something similar, or has any tips or suggestions to help make the camp even better?

It's good to see this type of community out in the wild! (y)
What FT plane are they building? The FT Sparrow is an easy, cheap and fun kit to start with. I held a lot of Sparrow Build classes at a local hobby shop a few years ago. All the materials and tools including precut parts were set up at each build station. Used the blunt end of a marker instead of a knife to make the double bevel fold. Children and their parents could build it in about 45 mins to 1 hour. Well over 150 Sparrows were built.

This is great! I thought a lot about starting a aviation club here in my town. Just haven't found very many people interested in it. I even have a spare building that would fit a meeting space and 20-30 build stations. 2 blocks away from a huge park that has very few trees. I'm working at it a little bit at a time.
