Baby Bugatti

Gone with the Mistral
I had to try that bird.
Thanks for the plan (I used R5).
Easy build so far, even with 6mm Depron.
2x 5gr servos for ailerons.
Will be ready for a maiden this week end.

Very nice. Mine went together quite well. Going to finish the electronics tonight and hope to maiden this weekend.

The beta builders will have a thorough look at it and see what changes can be made for the better. Overall, I think we will just be having fun with such a complete project coming our way.

For me the hardest things is to cram all the electronics without binding something up. I put my 1000 2s under the wing over the CG. I opened up a hatch....and removed the bad servo, now to replace it. I only have 9g free.

I'm sure it'll be fine, but I like your thoughts. I've got a whole camping weekend before I get a chance to get this fixed up.

I LOVE the Banana Bugatti!

Almost done - my battery concerns were unfounded - by the time I loaded everything up to balance it, I had to practically shove the battery into the tail. No problems with the hatch at all back there. I'm only going to be able to use my thin 2s800 in this without adding some lead in the tail.

But everything stuffs in here nicely now. LemonRx receiver glued on the right side.

AUW including prop and battery is only 204g! Even when the battery is full the FAA shouldn't be a problem. :p

With a 2300kv 2204 and a 6x3 prop eCalc thinks I should be just fine. Thrust to weight is 1.64 and estimated level speed is 35mph. Should be able to take a 7x3 if it needs more gunt on 2s.

I should be able to get her into the air next weekend and see. :)

Finally finished exporting the video from today's flight test. Baby Bugatti is FUN on 4s! Just one suggestion if you want to give it a go on a similar setup: give the ESC some breathing room, maybe a side hole that the ESC can see out of. But even given my 'stock' setup, the MT1806, 5x5 prop and BLHeli 12A performed flawlessly on 4s. And BOY was it QUICK!

If my camera woman accompanies me! It has the 1806 on a 12a esc on 2s 850mah right now not sure how anything bigger could fit! First plane I've ever built I didn't have to worry about it being tail heavy. Well done, went together well!

In a related note, I found a 3S850 in my kit that will fit under the hatch. :)

So, I wanted to explore the characteristics of this little beauty. I used some clear packing tape to create a fairing over the FT-styled wing tips. She flew but had a hard roll to the left. You definitely want to keep those tips in the right shape. I suggest using some packing tape to reinforce them as the foam is thin in that area and one little bend can have a dramatic effect of flight characteristics.

Maiden did not go well, didn't get on the elevator quick enough and planted it. A little foam massage and back in the air. Got about 3 minutes before a soccer goal jumped in its way. Going to need some TLC but will definitely be getting this bug flying again!
