Baby Bugatti

Aviator08

Flagstaff,AZ
I continued my 6 month trend of maiden crashes with the Banana Bugatti yesterday. :black_eyed:

1) I've got a 2206 up in the nose of this thing 'cause it's the motor I had on hand. So she's a might bit overpowered, and perhaps a little on the hefty side too. 1806 should be arriving this week.

3) I probably should have been holding left roll on launch just to counter act the expected torque roll from the overpowered motor. Oops.

I have a 2204 on mine, and I had a similar result , but with a good toss. Guess I will need some instruction from Ben. :)

Awesome! I'm REALLY itching to get some flying in. Haven't been able to fly anything in the last month

Well c'mon then, get building! You should be able to have one of these Bug's together in like, minutes. :p ;)

Seriously guys, I'm so happy you all are having fun with something I started as a distracting side project. :D

For any of the higher-power setups (2204/6, any battery bigger than 2S), I suggest launching on around half throttle. That should minimize the torque roll effects.

Regardless of power pack or throttle setting, the Baby Bug needs a good strong baseball/javelin toss for launch, especially if flying in no/low wind conditions. It's pretty windy here in So.Cal. in the afternoons, so there's always been at least a 10mph headwind for me to launch into whenever I've flown mine. I'm sure most of you are aware, but in the interest of completeness (and for the benefit of anyone reading this who aren't aware): Throw INTO the wind!

+1
Each moderate launch was scary on the maiden saturday, even with 10mph head wind. A strong toss is mandatory to generate lift on t/o.

Started with cg slightly nose heavy with the marks, then I moved slowly the battery back and found my spot. No sign of tail-heay and a good glide with thr off. Had to be ultra careful with that, the battery is half weight of plane. Total movement = 2mm.

Wake up! Time to fly!
Maybe ya'll need to go the way of the nerd for hand launching...

Sorry for the crappy quality this is the only one of two references to this scene I could find.

This design is so cool.

This design is so cool, i had to build it.
I printed it out on a A3 and used some cardboard.
It is aprox 50% smaller than original. Dont know if i can get it to fly.
Thanks for sharing your awesome design.
I think i will build a swarm of this design.

I landed it!
This little bird is really nice to build. Kudos on the design Ben! Lets see if I can rip the wings off with 6s  20170430_165545.jpg IMG_1791.JPG

A small Request

Printing facilites are very primitive where i live. so if you can provide tiled plans for this model it would become a whole lot easier for me to build this,

thankyou

Illegal Squid Fighting?
I wanna see that 50% cardboard one in the air! I wonder if FT is ever gonna bring the mini foam to the table...

I would assume that cardboard one would be too heavy. As far as mini foam I think FT is still working that out with the manufacturer to meet certain specifications as well. They have done viable builds with the new super thin foam already.

I saw the mini spit, I think it was, also there was an arrow and a spear in the vlog. I think they should do them to scale with the gremlin motors and props, use those as a power pack.
