Solved Battery voltage

In my fpv Goggles, I have a figure showing the total voltage of my 4s 1800mah battery on my nazgul5 quad. At what total voltage do I need to come down? I also need to know this to set warnings up in beta flight.

This is an area where good people disagree, most will say 3.2-3.5 v per cell, some will go down to 3v per cell.
While you are flying, there will be a voltage sag. Land & let the battery rest for 10 minutes & the voltage will come back. I like my resting voltage to be around 3.5 per cell.

I land at 3.5 and they usually bounce back to 3.7-3.8. I try not to go below 3.3 to be safe.

I fly to storage voltage and consider that a cycle. I can get 9 mins on a wing running from 4.2 to 3.8. Down to 3.5 volts is the safety net. That way I don't have to worry about storage voltage that night.

How often do you replace yours if they die from being old rather than smashed in.

Depending on the battery brand of course, they vary so much, but you should be striving to get 300-400 cycles out of them. That is if you take care of them, storage, charge and drain. After that then there is the physical state of the battery as well, more damage reduces the life of it too.

I have heard a couple people claim 600, sure it is exaggerated, I think that's high for a Lipo. Maybe Li-ion.

I almost wonder why we don't use more Li-ion batts for the wider usable voltage range more often. I know there is the burst rate factor, but there are so many times you see guys who haul long range and most run Lipo, few and far in between run the Li-ion. Excellent for say solar planes that run missions all day or even long range FPV, keep your stick on the ice and make sure to stay below 400 feet! :ROFLMAO:

Some long range guys run a twin 6s 1300mah lion pack and they get insane flight times! All you do is solder the terminals in series and it makes a pack!
