@Bavarian_RC whats the power system you are using on it?
Thanks @BATTLEAXE ! I am using the Emax MT2213-920KV. I couldn't get hold of my usual Graupner Ultra 2812 920KV (equivalent to the B-Pack motors) so I will try the Emax motors. I already had them installed on a FT Bronco and was a bit disappointed as they produced around 15% less thrust compared to the Graupner motors. Maybe I will change them later...

The nose cover is now held in place by two magnets.

To complete the scale look of the Messerschmitt I designed 3D printed spinners. They consist of a base plate with 2 square nuts and a cone that is screwed onto the baseplate with two M3 screws.

IMG_5863.JPG IMG_5865.JPG IMG_5866.JPG

The spinners make a real difference. Came out great!
All of the electronics are also installed, the throws of all control surfaces setup and the CG dialed in. Due to the specific design of the Me-410 with the motors so far in front I had to add 46 grams of weight to the tail to properly balance the plane on the CG. So much dead weight is definitely too much. For the next version I will have to redesign some parts to save more weight in the nose. The best opportunity will be to relocate the battery over the wing (once I have re-designed the fuselage to make it accessible from the top with a removable canopy instead of the slide-on nose cover).
The AUW is 1016 grams, the wing loading is 58.7 grams per dm2 (19.24 oz/ft2 … if I well converted it). I will definitely be happy to have flaps!

So all is ready for the maiden, just need to wait for better weather.

Such a pretty plane! Good job on making a beautiful aircraft akin to art! I hope it flies well and be proud of your self for making such a thing!

Maidened the Messerschmitt! It flew really nice from the beginning it just needed a little bit of trim. So far I couldn’t detect any bad tendencies during flight. The amount of down trim for the flaps will need some more adjustment but that’s something to be dialed in during the next test flights. Nevertheless the flaps are slowing the plane down quite nicely. The Emax motors were a bit weak as expected, so I will definitely replace them with my Graupner Ultra 2812 920KV motors. I will also add a bit more down thrust angle to the motor mounts.

All in all I am pretty happy with how the maiden flight went.

Looks like it flew really well!

Do you know what spinners you used? I've had a hard time finding any stubby ones for my Bf-109 and Bf-110. They just complete the look. I can't wait to see how you paint it if you do!

I designed the spinners myself and then 3D printed them.
Not sure if I will paint it. There are too many things I want to improve mainly on the fuselage. I‘ll build a version 2 of it which for sure will get paint.

Interesting.. I've heard some stories of 3d printed spinners exploding, and I have been reluctant to try it, but it seems like it worked out well for you. Were there any special techniques you used?

I have used the same design for the spinners of my Heinkel 219. Have a look at the STL files (see first post of the Heinkel thread) and you‘ll quickly see the principle. The little groove and tongue part is an important element of the design as it keeps the cone perfectly centered and is taking a part of the centrifugal forces. I have tested the He-219 spinners up to 12.000 rpm without issues.

Hi Daniel, I have completely re-designed the fuselage. Almost done with building it. Made the cockpit hatch this weekend. Will post some pics in the next days. Thanks for your patience! :) I am quite busy at work and trying to manage the current challenges we all have ... lockdown... home office ... 3 home schooling kids

Hey great to hear that your family is increasing. So I perfectly understand your approach ;)
I just hope that the schools will be opening again soon to reduce a bit the new "hobby" of my wife and me playing teacher. Normally I try to have at least every evening a few minutes in the workshop but on most of the days I am simply too tired after all the "must do's" are done. So the progress on my projects is a bit slow.
But let's be optimistic ... it can only get better :ROFLMAO:
