Hey wazzup guys

I'm very new to RC in fact I've only ones flown with a friends 3Channel RC Cessna. I saw the fun bat review and started browsing on Hobby King and saw that I could build one for about $50. If Chad or any of the 2 Josh could please let met now if i'ts a good, durable plane to begin training on? Am i going to waist my money? Any other folks could reply to if you can help, thanks.

Funbat is probably not the first plane to fly.
When you are Ok flying a Cessna or Bixler then the Funbat is a fun and easy plane to build and fly.
The important to get the Funbat easy to fly and durable is to make it LIGHT. And small throws on the rudders.
I have one at the moment with a 24 gram motor and 400 mAh 2-cell Lipo and there is not even a scratch after several flights.
I have a few Funbats with 50 gram motors and 3 cell 800 mAh LiPo but they are FAST and a lot heavier - making them less durable. They are easy to repair.

Pgerts, which 24g motor do you have? I assume that it is a blue wonder sort maybe the 1500kv one?
You are almost absolutely right. Any indoor motor in the range of 1400-1800 KV and used with an 8" prop will be fine.
A think that i am using :

Also needed is connector(s) for the battery-esc of choice. My choice is micro deans.
Glas fiber tape for reinforcing and packing tape for all bends and hinges.
Push rods of 1.5 mm carbon plus 1 mm piano wire bent ends.
Total weight of my last FUNBAT is 160 grams.

That is pretty cool and I actually have all of the stuff to build it! You are using 6mm foam are you not? That's a good AUW as well... do you have a video of it?

6 mm - yes. No carbon reinforcements at all, just glass fibre tape. "White wood glue" takes 24 h to cure but - no fumes and strong.
http://www.ripamfk.com/html/201203/index.htm There is a short video. The plane is neutral - no elevator input needed to fly inverted. /P

Hello raykill

Thank you for the reply, only thing that I am hesitating about building the NutBall ffor is that I might get board with it soon and then I have to build another plane again? If anybody has advice to the above statement, please

Another_flyer, Sometimes it's a bit more about building than flying. Flying is fun, but you can get bored. What is more, in time, you will get bored with a nutball. But it doesn't stop there, with the components from the nutball, you can build another plane, like the Funbat, to learn new skills with.

If you don't like the building part, well, then you are missing out half the fun. It's so enjoyable to see something work that you have made yourself. Even if you are not good at building from scratch, it doesn't matter - the planes mentioned above, the funbat, the nutball, and the FT Flyer / BluDart are designed to have a big tolerance for building mistakes.

So don't be afraid, just set your mind to it, and have some fun!

Yep, Building is a major part of the fun! I have built at least ten planes and designed about eight myself and have had only perhaps 5 minutes of flight time, but heck it is really really fun to just to see a plane coming together and even more fun to think about a plane design and build it right then and there even if it doesn't work.

You should build the Fokker DR1, i do agree you probably will get board and I think it will be a long time before you get board of the Fokker DR1.
