Best RC Beginner Plane, SkySurfer X8P Very Windy Maiden and a silly mistake!

My latest build, basic kit of the 1400mm SkySurfer X8P Bixler clone, that I bought for £35, finally got a very windy maiden. Launching was a total fail at first because of a very silly mistake I made. During the build I had to do some surgery to install another motor and hadn't checked it properly and looking at the video of the launch attempts now the issue looks obvious. It didn't occur to me at the time. Flying 15 odd years and it's a first for me and something else to add to the pre-flight check list!
Build blog and links on the video.

I've found sometimes it is best to have someone else preflight a maiden who isn't in a rush to put it up.
Yes, very good idea. I was a bit knackered too and it was first chance to fly in ages. I took five planes up to the strip with me, and flew 2, but a couple of them were test flights. You need good days after making mods. That day I could have asked, though often I fly on my own. I guess check and double check. I'm getting more disciplined with my pre-flights (after missing things) but that was a first for me!

Had several of these planes. Bixler flew the best. Some were just complete garbage. No power or thrust. At first I thought you had the prop backwards.

Appropriate, but I have had issues so bad that just getting the plane back down intact took total concentration, and the nerve jitters wouldnt allow letting go of the Tx until it was parked. Doesn't look like that here
