BEST SOLDERING IRON TO BUY IN 2025

I'll put in another recommendation for the Pinecil. I got mine maybe 1-2 years ago now and used it a lot for several projects, including LED wiring on my night planes this year and various custom adapter cables.

The only thing I don't like about it is that its grip is a bit different from other irons that aren't TS100-based because it's supposed to be portable and low-profile. I find the Pinecil grip is a little less comfortable than my previous iron, but I don't find it makes it difficult to work, and you do still get plenty of control of the Pinecil. You could print something like this to maybe improve that a bit but I haven't bothered yet. https://www.printables.com/model/242928-ts100-tpu-grip

Anyway, compared to the cheap amazon iron it replaced, it's a huge upgrade. I also bought the PinePower and the flexi USB-C cable to power it at its maximum output, but I like that I can run it off of a battery if I need emergency repairs in the field as well.

How long does the battery last? How long to charge? Price of tips?

Oh, sorry, I think I caused a misunderstanding with that wording. The Pinecil can run off of 12-24V DC through the barrel jack (if you get an XT60 to DC5525 cable, you could use an RC battery for that) or the USB-C cable to a power supply, which is what I use regularly. The performance of the DC setup would depend on the battery you give it. They cover power supply selection in this wiki article, with a couple side notes for batteries.

The tips seem reasonably priced to me, I got them from pine64.com. They come in 4-packs for ~$25.
