Best USA FPV Setup WITHOUT Ham radio licenses.

Hello All,

My Bixler V 1.1 kit arrived yesterday, and after some modding and minimal trimming was flying great. (Great, are you kidding me? Its the best plane ever!)

So, after wading through the massive threads on RCgroups, I still don't have any good opinions on a non Ham FPV setup. What do Y'all Like? I do have three criteria for the answers though:

1. It must be non HAM legal, I do not have a lot of time to dedicate to another radio course.

2. I would like it to be under $100

3. The System should be easily (using a DIY cable or similar) compatible with the Gopro Hero 3.


I already have 2 possible ground station monitors, and a few odds and ends under construction.

Well, this thread is almost a year old but I'll chime in.

Don't be afraid of getting a HAM license. You don't have to take a class if you don't want to. Just do the practice test at: http://www.eham.net/exams/. You can download the question pools at: http://www.arrl.org/question-pools

Then you have fewer restrictions and you can also operate some really nice radios.

Hehe, now that I'm entering college and will have even less time, I'm studying for a technician rating HAM license.
Thank you for the advice though, I appreciate it greatly.
