betaFlight configurator serial port problems for FT Gremlin

I have been working on building the FT Gremlin Josh Bixler edition and after building it, I have had constant problems during the software faze. When I try to save and reboot the Configurator after changing a setting like instructed in the video following the steps it says serial port failed to close and does not save properly. This has occurred on two different computers also. And when I bind the receiver and transmitter there is no output on the receiver tab even when i move the sticks like it shows in the video. I am at a loss for what to do any help would be nice thanks.

You have to configure the port first. Usually uart 3 set to serial. Save and reboot.

Then yo can go to confiuration page and select the receiver you use.
