When i was a newbie for this hobby, I built lots of FT designs. Many of them crashed, but I keep some of them as spare parts, as they are well built and solid.
A couple of months ago, i designed a FT style Mig-25. The fuselage gone in a crash, but left an undamaged main wing. I put a spare FT sparrow fuselage onto it. It just fit, not even a single change needed. It turns out a great flying wing !
As collections are increasing, I clean up my hanger recently and found some spares. I blend them together into a new plane.
Ingredients:
1 x FT sparrow Main wing (spare)
1 x FT sparrow Extended Wing (come from a FPV sparrow)
1 x FT Scout fuselage (spare)
1 x Gauge to parallel two wings
1 x drink bottle bottom
As all components are ready to use, you just need glue everything together. It cost me less than 3 hours to get it ready to fly.
As most components are re-used, so they are dirty, cracked and repaired. But this Biplane flies really great.
Wingspan: 820mm, length 700mm, PNP weight 630g.
Overview-
Speed-
Much faster than my expect for a biplane.
Handling-
Very stable, no bad tendency. Really elegant when cruising at 65% throttle.
Stalls-
Stall speed is higher than expect (as the wingspan is 1.5m and the flight weight is less than 1kg ) . Need a bit throttle for landing.
Aerobatics-
Since the main wing come from a FPV plane. Ailerons are quite small. So the rolling is not great. But no problem at all for basic aerobatics.
Maiden successful last sunday.
Update:
After two weeks raining, finally got the chance for paining. Just copy the Vought VE-7 scheme.
