Bloody Baron Going Smooth

Ok experts, these little 1407 4100kv brother Hobby have me stumped.
So I have to exact motors, 2 different brands of esc's .

On start up they stutter pretty bad unless you go to 30% throttle or more, once going you can go down to 5% or even less and fine but then when you go up to 50% or more it is like it has misfires all the way up to 100%. Lead wires are very thin I would say 20 gauge or less and they too get warm when you run it hard and this is with no prop on them so no load at all. With a prop on them the high speed misfire seems to go away but the start up stutter stays. I have resoldered all connections to, recalibrated the throttle on both esc's, again 2 same motors, 2 different brands of esc's and same issue with both. This is also on 3S and these motors are suppose to handle 4S with say a 3X4 prop . Mounting screws have plenty of clearance to the stator wires too.

How far into sensorless ESC theory do you want to get a headache? Short story: Full throttle characterized the feedback loop so they got efficient. Prop changes the input timing towards retard default. Sometimes it doesn't decay on turnoff. Just because your end is done correctly doesn't mean the internals are. Get some better motors.

I was already digging through my box of goodies to see what else I can come up with.

Combat wars last night, 7 more kills for me , next highest kills was only 4 so my point lead continues to grow. :)
Very little damage which is nice for once. The black and white lost it's motor due to over heating when a streamer got wrapped around it which sucked because he was on a roll and had 3 kills in that round and 1 in the round before. Blue and white lost 3/4 of an aileron, she was a handful to fly but still came home with 2 kills. Red and black lost a piece of the elevator but came home with a kill.

That is exactly what happened to me last time we had 12 planes up and windy, every one was getting farther and farther away. I lost track and ended up in the dirt, before I could figure out which plane was mine.

Yep, you learn not to take your eyes off of yours even for a split second.

Finally a little progress, just been busy lately, no flying or building it seems. The new combat Baron which I think I will name Shredder is coming together. The new slightly larger motors are V-Spec 1808 2400kv from HK, HK had them on special for $4.99 :D . To keep the amp and volt draw down I am under propping all motors so I can last 6 or so minutes. The V-Spec motors will be spinning the Azure 3X6.0X3 prop , 18A HK esc. Both motors at WOT draw 10.5 amps and have decent thrust. The main motor is the Turnigy 2826 10T 1400kv motor, and with a 40A esc. Normally I run the APC 10X5E prop which is huge thrust but at a cost of battery life so to save fuel it will run a 8X4.5MR APC prop . With all 3 motors at WOT I am just a hair over 30A draw and doing a vertical thrust test she jumps up really easy so good that way. Incase one of the outside motors gets tangled in a streamer or knocked off the plane plus because there will be no diff. thrust controls they are hooked up to the kill switch.

She looks like a streamer killer! :D

I was looking for a little more speed and power for my Bloody Baron so I put a 2812 1450kv motor on it and with a 9X5 prop on 3S was not impressed at all. Tried a APC 8X8 on 3S holy smokes I can combat at half throttle and still be faster and quicker then any one on the field. I think she can give a turbine jet a run for it`s money this thing is wicked fast wide open. Waiting to try 4s and find the right prop.
