Build Video for FT Tenet

The build videos that are now on YouTube are great as usual, but there are still missing pieces:
1. How to use the new FT motor mounts
2. How to mount the electronics and battery
3. How to build the tail - just build the horizontal and vertical pieces together and glue to the top of a removable tail holder?
4. Where and how to install the servos for rudder and elevator - how to route the control rods

My Tenet speed build kit arrived today. I've already done the fuselage, and used colored packing tape as in the "How to Build and Reinforce the Fuselage" video - no problem and it looks fine. I'll do the Sport Wing tomorrow. But then I need advice on the items above. It's Sunday night, and I thought the remaining info, whether in the form of a text post on this forum or full-fledged videos on YouTube, would be out by now.

Several more Tenet build videos appeared today:
- How to use the new FT motor mounts
- How to build the tail (both standard and v-tails)
- Where and how to install the servos for rudder and elevator and how to route control rods
- how to build the mount or carrier for the Aura5 + satellite (or standard receiver,) but not where to install it in the fuse.

So we're almost there - the new videos are the usual first-class quality of the Flight Test videos - thanks Josh!

Go to YouTube and type "Flight Test Tenet" in the search, and you will see all of the currently-released videos, including the very latest ones.

The videos haven't yet said, but I imagine wings are mounted using bamboo skewers poked through the foam fuselage.

I sent a support request to Flite Test yesterday evening, and I got this reply this morning - great service!

Sorry Stephen,
Due to an issue with the recordings on the build video we had to reshoot most of the build, this delayed the videos slightly. Noah has been uploading them as he completes them. They are all up now on the Tech page! Sorry for the delay and please let me know if there is anything that seems like its missing.

So now there are TEN short build videos. Vee tail, Sport Wing, and Speed wing have their own build videos to supplement the Trainer Wing and conventional tail videos.

The only questions I now have left:

+ There is a video to build the pod that holds the Aura 5 & satellite receiver (or you can just use a conventional receiver.) But it's not clear how this goes into the fuselage.
+ How to arrange all of the electronics, including the battery -- I think the ESC just gets taped to the side of the fuse.
+ For holding on wings, just poke skewers through the fuse?

I think that's all I can think of.

Meanwhile, here is a photo of my Tenet - the tail is installed on the back of the fuse, using the swappable tail holder (you get 3 of these) and the wing is built (but no servos yet) and I just have it sitting on top of the fuse for now.

The fuselage build video explains how to reinforce the fuse with packing tape - it's solid foam and there is no folding or glueing to do. Josh shows it reinforced & decorated using colored packing tape, which I also did. I liked it enough that I decided to cover the outside surfaces of the wing and tail with packing tape - no painting necessary now!

Wes at Flite Test, in response to my remaining questions, sent me this photo (this is the actual plane in the "Vision" video, a pusher prop configuration) that nicely shows the placement of the "control module" (the waterproof foam board assembly) and battery in the fuselage slot, a location for the ESC, and where the bamboo skewers for holding on the wing go.

Thanks so much again to Wes!

After watching all of the Flite Test Tenet Build Videos I didn’t detect a recommendation for holding the battery down. So I decided to come up with something. At first I thought that Velcro would be a good way to go, but after a short time that seemed to be a dead end. Not much room in the opening for Velcro.

Then I thought that if the battery could somehow be wedged up front, that might do it. So I cut three pieces of foam on my Hotwire table, which works great by the way. Two walls and a ceiling. And it’s a snug fit. More tips for foam board model builders on my blog at: https://foamboardflyers.com

Pretty quick build. Pictures show the 3 channel wing. The Sport wing is built, just need to install the servos. I’m using the pusher configuration. When checking things out I discovered that no matter which way I put the prop on, the plane goes backward when I give it throttle. Never had a pusher before so what do I know. I ordered some 6x3 pusher props (CW) from Flite Test. In my previous post I mentioned a problem holding the ESC with Velcro. I was using stuff I had laying around. When I used the Flite Test Velcro it worked fine. More pics on my blog: https://foamboardflyers.com
